The ingredients: 2 cups of water, 3 tablespoons of flax seed, a large handful of kale, a large handful of romaine lettuce, 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries, and a 1/2 cup of frozen blackberries.

After loading all of the ingredients into the container, I snapped on the lid, mounted it on the base, and flipped the on switch. Vita-Mix recommends that you always begin blending on the “Variable” setting before bumping things up to “High”. After about 45 seconds of blending, I shut the 5200 down.

Yes, my VitaMix 5200 blender arrived today via UPS and my green smoothie adventure finally begins. I made the decision to shift a substantial part of my diet over to raw foods this year, and the 5200 is going to be my weapon of choice.

Sporting a custom Swedish-built 2 HP motor, the VitaMix 5200 is a workhorse of a blender. It features a variable speed control system that provides consistent power regardless of load, and the available speeds range from 11 MPH to 240 MPH. But enough of the technical details for now, I’m dying to get this thing open!
